SIR - I welcome the UK government's Covid-19 travel ban on South America and Portugal in the light of the new Brazil variant of the virus. But generally it's a bit after the horse has bolted.
If the UK had banned ALL foreign travel at the start back in March, closing all air and sea ports, the need for the lockdowns would have been significantly reduced.
