Bradford's Equity Partnership has received a huge boost after securing £500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.
The organisation, established two years ago, runs a lesbian, bisexual and gay community centre and undertakes community development and policy work.
The funding, spread over five years, will provide co-ordination, promotion, development and capacity building support to gay groups.
The partnership has also obtained funding from Bradford's Strategic Health Improvement Partnership to carry out some short-term work with gay people experiencing mental health, drugs and alcohol problems.
Sarah Cooper, chairman of the partnership, said: "It will enable us to expand the support we can offer lesbian, gay and bisexual groups."
