ARE we really locked down? You wouldn’t think it.
During the first lockdown last spring, cycling was bliss. With barely any cars on the road, it was like going back to the 1950s. So why is this lockdown so different? There has barely been any decrease in traffic. Yesterday it took me five minutes to cross the road to the post box, it was so busy. There are only so many supermarkets and garden centres, so where is everyone going?
My husband cycles to work and says he has noticed barely any difference in commuter traffic.
Maybe there’s a secret pocket of Yorkshire I don’t know about where shops, pubs and restaurants are open, businesses are flourishing and life is going on as normal. I can’t think of another explanation.
