POLICE arrested a driver for entering the UK illegally, after officers caught them doing excess speed.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) spotted a black Mercedes going excessively fast on Huddersfield Road in Liversedge last night.
They stopped the car and checked the driver's details.
The driver did not hold a valid licence to drive in the UK and was not insured to drive the vehicle.
They had also entered the UK illegally, so police arrested the driver on suspicion of an immigration offence.
Officers also seized the Mercedes.
The RPU team said on Twitter: "Vehicle stopped travelling at excess speed.
"Driver did not hold a valid licence to drive in the UK.
"Driver was not insured to drive vehicle.
"Driver arrested for Immigration offence - illegal entry to the UK.
"Vehicle seized."
