EYEBROWS were raised by the curious sight of an old diesel railway locomotive parked up near a busy road east of Skipton.
Plenty of people will have been interested - and very curious - to see a heritage railway engine on a low loader in the lay-by at Skibeden on the A59 throughout the festive period.
Dave Parker, who took this picture, above, said: “It is a Class 37, manufactured in the early 60s by a company called English Electric.
"There used to be over 300 of them on British Rail - and there are still quite a few of them still in operation 60 years later. Clearly this isn’t one of them.”
The loco, numbered 37674, once worked China Clay trains in Cornwall but has run on preserved lines in more recent years. It currently sports original BR Railfreight grey livery from the 1980s.
