DOMINO’s Pizza has launched an investigation after images emerged appearing to show alcohol being drunk in a staff area in one of its Bradford takeaways.
These photographs, from the chain’s Bingley branch on Main Street, were shared with the Telegraph & Argus and Domino’s has vowed to “take any necessary action required”.
One image shows two pints on what appears to be the kitchen’s preparation area, while another shows what looks to be a half-empty bottle of vodka with a Coca Cola bottle next to it.
A video was also shared with the Telegraph & Argus, which shows a male apparently drinking a pint while stood in the takeaway’s kitchen area. A screenshot from that video can be seen above.
Major concerns were raised about the content of the images and footage, while claims were also made that Covid-19 rules and regulations were not being followed.
A Domino’s spokesperson said: “Domino’s has a zero tolerance policy against the consumption of alcohol in its stores, and expects team members to maintain the highest standards at all times.
“We have launched a full investigation into this incident and will take any necessary action required.”
They added: “We would also like to reassure customers our top priority is the safety of our colleagues and customers.
“We continue to work closely with Government and our environmental health authority who have approved our colleague and customer safety plans.
“Domino’s has also introduced a number of safety measures including Contact Free Delivery and improving our already frequent hand washing and sanitisation.
“We have installed protective screens, social distancing floor stickers and have clear customer safety signage in place for added levels of protection inside our stores.”
It’s not the first time concerns have been raised over a Domino’s in the Bradford district.
In August last year, the Telegraph & Argus reported on an incident where a Domino’s worker was caught washing his feet in the sink of the Keighley branch on Bradford Road.
His behaviour was described as “disgusting” and it was claimed it was the sink where pots and pans are washed - with some still in there at the time.
The incident was understood to have happened in May 2020, during the ongoing Covid-19 situation and amid heightened awareness around cleanliness and health and safety protocol.
While the pizza chain said it supports its staff in carrying out religious practices, its “strict hygiene standards” do not allow the use of hand wash basins for this purpose.
A spokesperson for Domino’s said at the time: “At Domino’s we have a diverse workforce and are proud of the support we give our teams to allow for religious practices during operating hours. Our strict hygiene standards however do not allow the use of a hand wash basin for these purposes.”
The spokesperson said the staff member was spoken to, giving assurance it would not happen again, and there had been no further incidents.
