A CRICKET match could be held later this year in tribute to Keighley councillor and former Lord Mayor of Bradford Abid Hussain who died on Christmas Eve.
Keighley Cricket Academy said it had "decided in principle" to organise a game in his honour in the summer.
Cllr Hussain had been chairman of the academy since 2004.
"Abid was a good cricketer himself and played with clubs at a high standard," said Charlie Bhowmick, for the academy.
"His depth of knowledge of the game was valuable to our club and he will be missed.
"Our deepest condolences go to his family and friends and we want them to know that we are missing him.
"Abid supported many fundraising events held at the cricket ground at Hard Ings Road over the last 25 years, raising thousands of pounds for local charities including Manorlands and the cancer unit at Airedale Hospital.
"Through his contacts, he brought high-profile cricket players from the England test team and also from India and Pakistan to play in exhibition matches.
"Abid enabled Keighley Cricket Academy to have a strong profile locally and it will be very difficult to replace him.
"The committee has decided in principle to organise a cricket match in his honour in the summer and further details will be provided in due course."
