The Drugs Squad in Bradford has carried out raids in the last two days netting substantial quantities of cannabis and crack cocaine.

Police seized two cannabis factories with a street value of £300,000 in planned raids yesterday in Little Lane Girlington and View Road, Highfield, Keighley. A 16-year-old youth was arrested at the Girlington address.

In a separate operation a raid was carried out at an address in Braine Court, Buttershaw and a substantial quantity of suspected crack cocaine was recovered. No arrests were made but inquiries are continuing.

Detective Inspector Neil Benstead said: "The last 36 hours have seen some significant arrests, seizures and charges in the Bradford and Keighley area by the Bradford District Drugs Team. Cannabis production at this scale is clearly linked to other crimes such as money laundering."

Referring to the Butterhsaw operation Inspector Benstead said: "The seizure of suspected crack cocaine is one of the largest single seizures in the district in recent years.

"The harm caused by crack cocaine is well documented and it is likely this drug was to be sold locally. Hopefully this seizure will go some way to breaking the cycle."
