WHILE I can’t see any problem with basic jackets for dogs to keep them warm and dry on winter walks, I am not in favour of dressing up pets. Yet the country seems to go mad for it, with the media asking for images of the wackiest , glitziest get-ups worn by pets over the festive period. Even the Great British Sewing Bee’s Christmas episode asked the celebrity contestants to make Christmas outfits for dogs. Dogs and cats are covered in their own hair or fur and don’t like to be swaddled in cloth, let alone santa outfits complete with hats and boots. Their discomfort is plain to see.
