A watchdog investigating the decision to install fencing along Otley's riverside will publish its findings next year.
Leeds City Council's Scrutiny Board (Culture and Leisure) has been looking at the process that led to parts of Wharfemeadows Park being fenced off in July.
At its November meeting chairman Ted Hanley said he had hoped a draft report would be ready by December, but on Monday he told the board more time was needed, given new developments which included receiving a letter from Otley MP Greg Mulholland about the legal advice the Council obtained over the fencing.
Last week Mr Mulholland and Wharfemeadows Action Group said newly disclosed legal advice provided to the Council over river safety in Otley backed their opposition to the fencing.
