BRADFORD City fans have had their say over who they would like to see replace Stuart McCall as the club's new manager.

The Bantams have begun the search for a new man in the dugout after club legend McCall was sacked on Sunday.

The favourite for the job with both SkyBet and William Hill is former Leeds, Newcastle and Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate at 2/1, however he is not believed to be fancied for the role.

Second with both Sky and William Hill is former Bantams gaffer Phil Parkinson, at 3/1 with Sky and 9/2 with WH, but he is not likely to make an emotional return to BD8.

Ex Scunthorpe boss Paul Hurst (9/2 Sky, 7/1 WH) is also fancied by the bookies, and other names in the running include former Bolton assistant David Flitcroft (4/1 Sky, 12/1 WH), ex-Lincoln City man Daniel Cowley (Sky 10/1, WH 16/1) and ex-Southampton boss Nigel Adkins (12/1 with both).

City supporters have given their verdict, as the club looks to move on after an emotional departure from McCall.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: City fan Mike HarrisonCity fan Mike Harrison

Mike Harrison, editor of the City Gent fanzine, would not be drawn on a specific name to replace McCall.

Mr Harrison said: "I have absolutely no idea who will come in next. It's a case of who is out there who has failed somewhere else.

"It will be someone else who has been sacked in recent times.

"Whoever comes in next will have the same problems that Stuart has had with injuries.

"There is still enough good players when they are fit that we can do better than we are at the moment.

"It's a mad industry. We will see what the club comes up with next.

"History will tell us if we have made the right decision or not.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Humayun Islam Humayun Islam

Humayun Islam, of the Bangla Bantams, says the absence of fans from Valley Parade has not helped the Bantams' cause this season.

"The results speak for themselves. We need new players, a new manager and new momentum.

"We need a new manager to come in and it's going to take time.

"We definitely need to stay in League 2 and try and then rebuild for next season.

"It's a strange season with no fans in the stadium watching. At Bradford City, the fans are the 12th man.

"My heart says Stuart needed to stay, but my head says there needed to be a change."

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Councillor Richard Dunbar Councillor Richard Dunbar

Councillor Richard Dunbar (Thornton and Allerton), a Bantams season ticket holder, says City need to make a quick appointment so the new manager can assess the squad ahead of the January transfer window, adding a former Huddersfield Town boss could be an ideal replacement.

He said: "Danny Cowley would be an interesting choice. He has the knowledge and local network of contacts.

"We need someone to come in in then next week or so, to quick assess the squad.

"It would be terrible for the district if we went down.

"It's sad about Stuart going. We all know about the passion and commitment that Stuart has got for the club.

"I was hoping that we would be pushing on this season. To be worried about getting relegated, we needed to do something about that."
