BRADFORD City will host its first-ever online Christmas carol service.

Held in conjunction with Bradford Cathedral, the Bradford City Online Christmas Carol Service will be broadcast from noon on Friday, December 11 across the club’s Facebook and YouTube channels, and also published on Twitter, Instagram and iFollow.

The 30-minute service will include readings and contributions from City manager Stuart McCall, Billy Clarke, Clayton Donaldson and Richard O’Donnell.

There will be pre-recorded hymns and carols sung by the Bradford Cathedral choir, as club chaplain Oliver Evans and Bradford Cathedral Canon Precentor, the Reverend Paul Maybury, also deliver prayers and blessings.

This unprecedented production is aimed at generating festive spirit as the Christmas period is approached, at a time where - due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions - people are unable to gather in Bradford Cathedral for an annual service as they usually would at this time of year.

Maybury said: “I am very pleased we have been able to put together a carol service for Bradford City.

“This has been an aspiration for some years and, as we are unable to meet in the Cathedral, it is wonderful that we are able to put this recording together.

“I am very grateful to each person who has contributed and we look forward to building on this foundation into the future.”

A City spokesperson added: “An online carol service has been a possibility for a while now, and 2020 presents the perfect opportunity to do so.

“This year has been far from straightforward in every sense, but we hope our service will bring some much-needed festive cheer as we approach a 2021 full of promise and positivity.

“We would like to thank Paul, Oliver and everyone at Bradford Cathedral for their help in bringing this production to life, and hope you enjoy watching it - in the lead up to Christmas.”

Tune in to the Bradford City AFC Online Carol Service - from noon on Friday - via the club’s official Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and iFollow channels.
