TWO brothers from an Ilkley drama school are melting the nation’s hearts as they star in a Christmas advert for the Co-op.

Austin and Rocco Haynes play brothers who raise community spirits, after a pandemic filled year, by performing an impressive rendition of Oasis’ community anthem Round Are Way, outside their local store.

The uplifting advert celebrates the notion that anyone can do their bit to help their local community and spread some festive cheer.

Austin, aged 12, and Rocco, aged 7, from Leeds, strum and sing the Oasis hit. They start tentatively but gain confidence as more people stop to listen, dance and applaud.

One passer-by even stops to offer a donation, which the boys politely decline, as putting a smile the faces of the community is thanks enough.

They end the performance by belting out the track, in a manner which would do Oasis proud, before strolling home arm in arm.

The boys are represented by Ilkley based Articulate Drama School and Agency which represents talented actors across the north.

Director Stacey Burrows said: “We are extremely proud of the boys. It’s great to see two lovely, down -to-earth northern lads, on the face of such a big campaign, with such a beautiful community message.”

Austin said: “I really enjoy acting and I’ve been doing it for about five years now since I joined Articulate. I love auditioning for roles and for this one, I got to audition with the talented Casting Director Sue Odell which was pretty cool. When we found out we had got the part, we were jumping up and down with excitement. I got to work with the amazing director Billy Boyd Cape who was so talented and made our time on set so much fun.”

Rocco said: “We loved filming and we got to go to a real recording studio to record the track’.

Austin added: “I felt like a rock star. I loved the whole experience and I won’t ever forget it. It was just really nice to see people smiling when we were filming the scenes.”

Austin has been acting at Articulate for the last four years and has appeared in The A Word, Gentleman Jack, All Creatures Great and Small, The Feed, CBeebies The Tempest, The Irregulars, Ava & Ali, and Barnardo’s Children’s Campaign. Most recently he filmed with Jim Broadbent on The Duke.

Rocco has also filmed Gentleman Jack, where he played Billy Hardcastle, as well as ‘Ava & Ali’, and a number of commercials. He has most recently filmed All Creatures Great and Small Christmas Special, which is due to air this festive season.
