A man aged 35 has been warned he may face a prison sentence for stealing £95,600 from Buzz Bingo in Bradford.
Christopher France was due to be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court this morning after pleading guilty to the offence at the city’s magistrates’ court.
But the case was adjourned until December 11 because there was no report from the probation service.
France, of Staincliffe Road, Dewsbury Moor, Dewsbury, stole the cash between January 13 and May 17 last year.
His barrister, Robin Frieze, said the defendant was a man of previous good character who pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Mr Frieze conceded that the case crossed the custody threshold because France had stolen from his employer but he asked the court to adjourn for a report.
The magistrates committing France to the crown court for sentence had not requested one.
Recorder Jonathan Sandiford QC enlarged France’s bail until the sentencing date.
He warned him: “This is a very serious matter. It crosses the custody threshold.”
