People have definitely been more upbeat since this week’s announcement. In the supermarket queue there was chatter about parties, festivals and other social events that now look likely to happen in 2021

For the first time since they were born I won’t see my daughters this Christmas, which makes me very sad. I know there are many others who have fared far worse and for whom Christmas without loved ones will never be the same, even after this pandemic.

Whatever our circumstances, we all desperately want rid of it. It is still ‘early days’ with the vaccine, but I will be among the millions across the world welcoming it with open arms.
