A MARINE who died last year has been remembered through a poignant tribute by his family in Baildon.
David Sutcliffe and his son Jake, 10, have decorated a monument to the fallen at Trig Point, the highest spot on Baildon Moor in time for Remembrance Sunday.
It is particularly poignant for the pair as it also remembers David’s brother, Tony, 42, who died in April last year.
David and Jake have stuck a black acrylic soldier and made a number of poppies which have been attached to the monument.
It was the spot where Tony’s ashes were scattered. David and his family will visit the site tomorrow to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.
David, 42, said: “It is a tribute to my brother and all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. He was in the Marines for 12 years.
“Me and Tony used to go to Baildon Moor as kids. He said if anything happened to him, that is where he wanted his ashes to be scattered.
“It was very emotional doing it and Jake is very proud to do things like that.”
