Jobs at a manufacturing firm could be saved, providing creditors agree to a deal put forward by the company.

Ellison Metal Finishing, based in Skipton, has endured a difficult period but looks set to retain both its workforce and customers.

The company, which specialises in metal finishing products, was established nearly 40 years ago and provides industrial fixings and fasteners, roll containers and shopping trolleys amongst others.

Its products are used in a wide range of markets, including automotive, retail, construction and general engineering.

No-one from Ellison Metal Finishing was available for comment when contacted by the Telegraph & Argus, but David Cockshott, a partner at corporate recovery specialists BWC Business Solutions, who are dealing with Ellison Metal Finishing, provided the T&A with the following statement: "Ellison Metal Finishing Limited is proposing a company voluntary arrangement' which will be considered at meeting of creditors on December 13.

"This is a private arrangement between the company and its creditors. All creditors have been notified.

"The proposal provides for the company to continue trading with its existing staff and customers. The company has experienced difficult trading conditions recently as result of a necessary relocation of its production units and a number of bad debts."

The company has expanded in recent years, acquiring the Darlington division of Bodycote International Plc's UK Coatings operations in mid-2004. The move took the firm's turnover past the £6 million mark and staff numbers to more than 100. The previous year it set up a second site in Aston, Sheffield.

According to the firm's website, Ellison lists the likes of Ford, Rover, Honda and Toyota amongst its clients.

BWC Business Solutions, is headed by three partners, Mr Cockshott included, who between them have combined insolvency experience of 70 years.
