ENQUIRIES are continuing into an early hours car fire which was so "loud" that some residents thought it had "blown up".

Emergency services were called to Paley Terrace in the Bowling area of Bradford at around 5.30am this morning (October 23).

Two cars were damaged, a grey Mercedes and a white Kia.

One witness, who called the fire into 999, said: "I heard a loud bang from my attic bedroom and went downstairs to look out of the window when I saw the car on fire then a lot of loud popping noises followed.

"I called the emergency services."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any further information is asked to contact the police via 101, quoting crime reference number 13200530777.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue confirmed no one injured in the incident.

The spokesperson continued: "We were called at 05.28 hours to reports of a car on fire on Paley Terrace in Bradford.

"One fire engine attended from Bradford Fire Station.

"On arrival the crew found that two cars were on fire - they put the fire out and left the scene at 06.43 hours.

"No one was injured."
