PEOPLE in Bradford have been given a last-minute reminder to enter an online raffle to win a £500,000 house in West Yorkshire - at just £2 per ticket.

Den Goodridge has put his house up for sale in this unusual way after seeing a previous sale fall through due to the pandemic.

The five-bedroom Victorian house, which is in Huddersfield, has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a games room and a fully-stocked wine cellar featuring 300 bottles which Mr Goodridge says he will leave behind for the raffle prize winner.

Tickets are available online for the raffle until 9am on Friday, October 30 with a total of 500,000 tickets up for grabs, with just under 100,000 sold so far.

Mr Goodridge says he hopes to give between £10,000 and £20,000 from the total raised in the raffle to ward 52 at Leeds General Infirmary's Clarendon Wing.

He wants to give back after they saved his then eight-year-old daughter's life after she was taken to the hospital after suffering an abscess on her brain. She was taken into theatre where her life was saved twice that night. Now 13, she has made a full recovery.

Mr Goodridge, who has lived in the house since 2004, said: “We’re thrilled with the number of people that have entered the raffle so far – we’ve had amazing feedback too that it’s certainly a deal not to be missed.

"As the deadline approaches, we’d love to get as many people as possible entering as it’s a wonderful opportunity for someone to win what’s been for us, a cracking home, plus a fully stocked wine cellar too – just in time for the festive season.

“We’re also raising money for local charity Leeds Cares, so the entries we have, the more money we can raise for such a worthwhile cause.

“The doctors and nurses on Ward 52 on the Clarendon wing were amazing.

"I really hope that by raffling our family home, we can raise enough money to help make a real difference to the ward that helped save my daughter’s life – she wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them."

"There’s not long left and for just £2, there’s no reason not to enter.”

The property built in 1868, spans across 3,600 sq ft and includes five double bedrooms, four bathrooms and five reception rooms, with large landscaped gardens to both the front and the rear.
