A 30-year-old man accused of causing the death of an elderly van driver by dangerous driving has been told his trial will take place in April.
Shaqil Khokhar, of Fitzroy Road, Bradford Moor, Bradford, appeared before a judge at the city's crown court for a preliminary hearing yesterday.
Khokhar was not asked to enter any plea to the allegation which arises out of a collision between his Volkswagen Golf and a van driven by 70-year-old Patrick Rickard, of Wood Green, Leyland, Lancashire.
The incident, which took place on the A6068 at Laneshawbridge, near Cowling, Keighley, on September 20, also involved damage to two other vehicles.
Mr Rickard was pronounced dead at the scene and Khokhar was taken to Airedale General Hospital after the collision.
Judge Robert Bartfield told Khokhar his trial would begin on April 21, but he would have to attend at Bradford Crown Court on February 12 for a plea and case management hearing.
Khokhar was granted unconditional bail.
