Thirteen workers have been made redundant after a Cleckheaton-based IT business was acquired by a Leeds-based firm.

Premier IT Consultants, based on Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, has been taken over by Blue Logic which says the acquisition will further enhance the quality and strength of the business.

All of Premier's staff were officially made redundant in the move but five of its employees have subsequently been employed by Blue Logic and have been transferred to its site in Ireland Wood, Leeds.

Danielle Ward, one of the former Premier staff who has been taken on by Blue Logic, said: "Members were transferred across to Blue Logic where certain positions were available.

"Officially we were all made redundant."

Premier IT Consultants started business life in 2004 with the help of Yorkshire Forward's West Yorkshire Ventures agency.

It moved to Cleckheaton from its former base in Huddersfield to occupy a more central role in West Yorkshire.

The firm provided a wide range of services including systems, maintenance contracts, hardware and software products, customer training and network cabling Blue Logic's director, David Helm, said: "We have grown Blue Logic through key business relationships and gained a strong market position by strong core values and placing our customer at the heart of what we do."

A spokesman said the firm see this acquisition as a key business development which will increase the firm's resources and product knowledge, as well as allowing the Blue Logic team to offer further products and solutions to help customers achieve their goals and continually find new intuitive ways to overcome their business pains."

Blue Logic was formed in Leeds 11 months ago by Mr Helm, Sanjay Fox and Chris Ambler. All have more than 30 years IT experience.

The principle activity is the provision of IT support services and business solutions to small to medium businesses in the Yorkshire-area.

The key areas focus-upon Network Solutions, support and supply of Accounting and CRM Software Solutions.
