A Bradford pub is flushed with success after being awarded a top five star rating in the 2007 Loo of the Year awards.

The Turls Green, in Centenary Square, was judged against more than a hundred different inspection criteria, including decor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

The awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of away from home' toilet provisions across the UK.

Authorised inspectors made unannounced visits to more than 1,500 sites over a three-month period.

The toilets were graded from one star to the maximum of five with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.

Awards director Richard Chisnell said: "The inspectors were impressed with the toilets at The Turls Green and it thoroughly deserves its award."

The Wetherspoon's pub is managed by Adam Johnson who said: "We are delighted with the award. The staff here work hard to ensure that the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it's great that their efforts have been rewarded."

Duty manager Kerry Newton said: "We do get compliments from customers. The toilets are cleaned hourly and always kept in top condition."

The ladies' boasts a "dressing room" and spacious tiled lavatory section.
