Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries when he became trapped under a stolen car in Listing Lane, Gomersal.

Three cars, a red Vauxhall Astra, a blue Vauxhall Astra and a grey Mercedes coupe, were involved in a collision. The two Astras had previously been reported as stolen.

Firefighters from Cleckheaton, Morley and Batley used specialist pneumatic equipment to lift the Vauxhall Astra car to release the man, who is in his early 20s.

A major incident unit was also called to the scene at 8.48pm on Sundaysun.

A spokesman for the fire service said that, at one point, the two cars were side by side with the man's legs free in one car but his body trapped under the other.

A West Yorkshire Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed that the man had been taken to Leeds General Infirmary along with another man, also in his early 20s.

Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Dewsbury CID on 0845 6060606.
