The dominance that teams from the County Amateur League have had over the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup for the past ten seasons was badly dented when only four of the sides made it through to the last 16.

Tyersal made sure of their safe passage with a third-round 4-1 victory at home to Harrogate League side Addingham. Antony Busfield (2), Andy Bailey and Nick Cowling got the goals, with Andrew Boardman replying.

Wibsey failed to make home advantage count over their West Yorkshire visitors Churwell Lions, and despite a single strike from Joe Brooksbank they suffered a 4-1 defeat.

South Bradford travelled to Huddersfield and went down by the same score. Bay Athletic's in-form striker Kitson Gayle rattled in all four goals while John Elam scored the Holme Wood side's effort.

Dudley Hill Rangers came up against a strong Barnoldswick Town side and were thrashed 10-3, with Billy Lowther, Craig Reardon and Andrew Mountain scoring.

Halifax Irish beat Littletown 6-2 with a hat-trick from Rob Malone, and others from Brian Mathews, Kane Baker and Curtis Cochrane. Meltham Athletic accounted for Brighouse Old Boys 4-1.

Campion Reserves, Hunsworth and Lower Hopton Reserves all made it through to the last 16 of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy.

Campion had to come from being two goals adrift at home to Huddersfield League side Moldgreen as Chris Helliwell (2) and Les White scored to force extra-time. Gift Chimera scored in the first period of the added period to clinch a 4-3 victory.

Second-half strikes from Stuart McCallum and Johnnie Bullivant gave Hunsworth a 2-0 home win over Wyke Wanderers. Lower Hopton had a 2-1 home win over Ardsley Celtic.

Campion's hopes of narrowing the gap on Bay Athletic and Meltham Athletic at the top of the Premier Division were dashed when Adam Sanders scored the only goal for hosts Brighouse Town.

Keighley Shamrocks slipped closer to the foot of the table after losing 1-0 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Lee Mulroe scoring.

Crag Road United's chances of a top-two finish in Division One took a severe blow when leaders Kirkburton returned home with all three points after winning 3-1.

Dean Calcutt and a Chris Knight own goal were on target for Kirkburton. Paul Moorhouse pulled one back but Lee Bradley made sure of the points with the third. Marsden stayed joint top after beating Eastmoor 5-4.

Salts, looking to pull away from the relegation places, had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw with Rawdon Old Boys. Stuart Burgess netted his fourth goal in three games but Lee Sowden equalised.

Steeton put a stop to Wakefield City's four-match winning run when Steve Barker and Mark Wilson scored in their 2-0 home win.

Ventus/Yeadon missed the opportunity to move into third place in Division Two ahead of U Save Albion. Leading 1-0 through Alex Cusak at home to Storthes Hall, they failed to capitalise on their lead. Craig Pember and Tom Fleming, scored for the visitors before Andy Holmes rescued a 2-2 draw.

Dynamoes put in an inept performance and allowed their visitors Hall Green United Reserves to win 3-2 and register their first league victory.

Chris Tunney (2) and Danny Riley put the visitors in charge before Chris Gibbon and Gary Scott replied.
