It was probably right that John Barnes was voted off Strictly Come Dancing last weekend. But it was a shame nevertheless. The former Liverpool footballer has been a terrific contender, a fine representative of the Big Lads' Club, demonstrating that you don't have to be stick-thin to be nimble on your toes.
Barnes has improved greatly every week. His problem has been that the others still in the competition had a head start and he was never going to be able to catch up.
Still, watching him try has been great entertainment.
