A £1,600 grant has secured a three-month-long programme of environmental activities for pupils at Oakworth Primary School in Keighley.
The money, obtained from the Keighley area co-ordinator's office, is part of the Green Schools Fund.
It is paying for gardening sessions with Haworth Primary's School Food Hero, Steve Thorpe, pictured, plant lessons from school gardening consultant Kim Green and joint activities with the Friends of Oakworth Park.
The schedule also includes visits from Janet Armstrong, of Oakworth Village Society, and Ian Butterfield from the Forest of Bradford environmental group.
Shaun O'Hare, who is also a Forest of Bradford worker, said the school's commitment to the project had been "impressive".
He said the main focus of the initiative was on the school grounds, and included creating a new garden and composting area, painting gates and making planters out of recycled timber.
He added: "The children have identified areas for improvement within the village, so the youth shelter in the park will be painted and tree planting will be carried out in the school field.
"So far the school has taken part in Action Earth days, Keighley in Bloom and applied for more grants to expand its Gardening and Environment of Oakworth club.
"Parental involvement has been high and donations from parents and business have allowed the project to grow further."
