A road safety group is urging Christmas shoppers to take care when dashing on the district's roads.
West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership says crowded roads and town centres often mean people are not paying full attention to what is going on around them.
This time last year there were nearly 1,000 casualties on the county's roads, including 16 fatal and 99 serious incidents.
Phillip Gwynne, from the partnership which is known for installing and running West Yorkshire's speed control safety cameras, said: "Doing the Christmas shopping is not just exhausting, it can - literally - put you in harm's way on the road."
