LATEST NEWS: Tributes paid to teacher who died in tragic crash involving four vehicles

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 34-year-old Bradford motorcyclist died following a collision in Handforth, near Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Shortly after 10pm on Tuesday night police were called to reports of an incident on the southbound carriageway of the A34 Handforth Dean bypass.

Officers attended the scene and found that there had been a four-vehicle collision involving two cars and two motorbikes.

A grey Audi RS3, dark blue Audi R8, black Suzuki GSXR motorbike and blue Suzuki GSXR motorcycle are believed to have collided near the Handforth Dean shopping centre roundabout.

The rider of the black Suzuki, a 34-year-old man from Bradford, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The rider of the blue Suzuki motorbike, a 32-year-old man, also believed to be from the Bradford area, was also injured.

He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where his condition is described as stable.

The occupants of the cars, a 28-year-old man from Cheadle, a 29-year-old man from Bradford and a 23-year-old man from Bradford, are not believed to have been injured.

All three have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Inquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to get in touch.

Sergeant Andy Dennison said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and inquiries are very much ongoing.

“Initial inquiries suggests that those involved in the collision were potentially travelling in convoy, and we are keen to hear for anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicles prior to the incident.

“The same goes for anyone with any video footage of which may aid the investigation.”

Fire engines from Wilmslow and Cheadle were called to the incident, and used specialist airbags and cutting equipment to free a trapped rider from underneath a car.

Fire crews were in attendance for almost two-and-a-half hours, and the road was closed by the police.
