A MOTORIST who drove his family from Yorkshire to Dorset for a holiday has had his car seized by police.
Officers from Dorset Police's No Excuse Team stopped the BMW yesterday morning.
A spokesman said: "Why would you drive 290 miles with your family for a holiday, without insurance?
"The driver of this BMW was stopped on Wareham Road, Corfe Mullen, so we could check the insurance cover.
"Turns out the driver knew it wasn't insured but decided to take the risk and travel from Skipton to Dorset because they wanted a holiday.
"He will now need to arrange cover, visit a police station and then the compound before travelling home.
"Not a good end to your holiday."
"To make things worse the driver has been reported to court, as he already holds nine points on his driving licence and now faces being disqualified through totting up.
"Why risk it? We wish people would check their documents, they are important."
