FIGURES show that the Shearbridge & University area has still got Bradford’s highest figures for coronavirus cases.
The area - along with Scholemoor, Great Horton and Brackenhill - has also had the largest number of deaths, 64, since the pandemic started until the end of June.
This week leading epidemiologist Professor John Wright warned that the virus had not gone away across the district with dozens of new cases still being reported.
He tweeted that Bradford Royal Infirmary “had just a few Covid-19 patients but in Bradford rates heading to 50/100,000”.
He added: “These are young people with milder disease, but they will transmit to those more at risk.”
He called for “action now to save lives and avoid another hospital surge”.
The latest figures for cases broken down by postcode show that the Shearbridge & University area has still got Bradford’s highest figures at 32 for the seven days between July 20 and 26.
Great Horton & Brackenhill had 10 positives, Brown Royd 11, Toller Lane & Infirmary 17, Girlington 18, Fairweather Green and Allerton 11, Holme Top 10, Barkerend East 12, Thornbury 19, Heckmondwike North 10, Keighley Oakworth Road & West Lane 11.
Looking at the number of deaths since the pandemic started until the end of June Ilkley and Addingham have recorded 35 deaths, Keighley and surroundings have had 42, Bingley/Crossflatts 42, Shipley/Saltaire/Baildon 30, Windhill/Wrose/Idle/Eccleshill 28, Bradford city centre/Barkerend/Undercliffe/Thornbury 37, Manningham/Chellow Heights/Heaton/Toller Lane 40, Fairweather Green/Thornton/Allerton 29, Shearbridge & University/Scholemoor/Great Horton and Brackenhill 64, Buttershaw/Low Moor/Bankfoot 32.
