PLANS to turn a former clinic in Baildon into a block of flats have been refused by planners.
Newton House, on Newton Way has been vacant for 18 months, and last month an application to alter the building to create six flats were submitted to Bradford Council by Trevor Hobday.
The building had also been used as a day nursery, but the application said that due to it now being empty the building had "deteriorated quite rapidly."
To accommodate the flats, the building's roof would have to be altered and enlarged.
However, planning officers at the Council said these changes "would result in a building of unsympathetic form and design."

They also raised concerns that windows in some of the new flats would overlook neighbouring properties.
Refusing the application, officers added: "It would allow overlooking at close quarters of the windows and amenity space of those properties."
The site is next to Ellis Yard - a builder's yard site that is also being redeveloped as housing.
