A dramatic video has emerged showing sections of a building’s roof “exploding” during an intense fire in Bradford.
The footage was captured and sent to the Telegraph & Argus by Mr Ejaz, who was nearby when the blaze started in Norcroft Street, just off Thornton Road.
Eight fire engines were scrambled to the scene, after a building with an asbestos sheeting roof caught fire in what is a largely industrial area. They arrived to find a 25×25 metre building 100 per cent involved in fire.
Mr Ejaz, who sent several video clips to the T&A, said: “The fire spread extremely quickly and engulfed the industrial unit within minutes.
“There was concern that neighbouring buildings would also be set alight.
“The video shows the ferocity of the fire, with sections of the roof exploding as the fire intensified.”
The blaze sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky and could be seen for many miles.
Residents were advised to keep their windows shut.
One resident said the smell of smoke was strong in Barkerend, while another said it could be seen from Baildon.
