LATEST NEWS: THIS is the Lamborghini that crashed on the motorway earlier (and it was only 20 minutes old)
TRAFFIC was held and queuing for up to three miles after a crash involving a Lamborghini this afternoon.
West Yorkshire Police was called to reports of a collision involving two vehicles on the M1 southbound carriageway at around 1.12pm.
It happened near junction 40 (A638 Wakefield Road, Ossett/Wakefield).
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said it is believed the crash involved a van and a Lamborghini.
They added that the van driver has got head injuries, but they are not believed to be serious.
Footage seen by the T&A shows the Lamborghini spread sideways in the middle of the motorway, with a small amount of debris around it.
Three lanes of the carriageway had to be closed while recovery was underway.
The T&A's traffic page initially said all four lanes were blocked, lanes two, three and four have had to be shut.
At its peak, congestion was stretching beyond junction 41 (Carrgate) with travel time at 30 minutes.
Traffic began to be held from 2.25pm, but was released five minutes later.
Vehicles had been using the exit slip-road at junction 40 to get round the crash scene until around 1.30pm.
All three closed lanes were reopened at around 2.51pm, but traffic was still queuing.
