A BINGLEY-based concert band have taken their traditional sound online as members have clubbed together to perform a video hit from their homes.
Hot Aire! And Fresh Aire! Members have recorded a brass band version of ‘Bare Necessities’ from The Jungle Book to raise a smile during lockdown.
A total of 56 group members, past and present, each recorded a section of the song from their respective homes and it was all edited together to make then clip which has proved a hit on social media.
Laura Thornton, band member and who edited the video together, says it was an enjoyable experience for all concerned and has proven the next best thing to meeting up in person.
She said: “At the moment, obviously we can’t play together physically.
“It was a learning curve doing the video.
“I think it was a good change for us. We voted on Facebook about which song to choose and ‘Bare Necessities’ came out on top.
“Each member downloaded their part in the video, recorded it and emailed it across to me to edit the video together.
“It was a first for a lot of people to perform the music in this way. It was a very different way but we have really enjoyed it.
“The video has got quite a few views on Facebook already. It has reached 8,500 people.”
Laura also revealed that the group are working on their next video performance, which is a cover of Louis Armstrong’s classic, ‘What a Wonderful World’.
Hot Aire! is the third generation of a band that began life in 1956 as a brass band and then became a concert band under its current name in 1989.
Together with training band Fresh Aire! the bands have a membership of 90 enthusiastic musicians ranging in age from eight years to over 70.
