AS part of their Vision 2020 plans, Yorkshire success story – Regal Foods – is expanding its warehouse capacity and creating 20 new jobs.
The additional 1,672m2 will be situated at the headquarters in Wallis Street, Bradford, and is intended to provide additional storage space for raw materials, packaging and finished goods, including Asian baked goods and snacks.
The build will also free up space in its existing warehouse, enabling the extension of the company’s manufacturing arm, The Baking Company.
Regal Foods is always striving to develop new products, so the additional space will allow increased overall efficiencies and capabilities.
Of this new initiative for Regal Foods, Sales Director, Waqar Younis, says: “We are very ambitious for the business, and we want to be at the forefront of innovation. This is a very exciting time for us – we’re expanding the business which allows us to offer a more extensive and improved range of products to our customers, and we’re creating new jobs for the local community.”
The food manufacturer is now one of the largest UK producers and distributers worldwide. Within the UK, they supply a number of local and national retailers including the Big Four – Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Sainsburys.
Last year saw them making a successful move into the American market, and launching a revamped a global online ordering system: www.shopatregal.
Absar Younis, Operations Director, says: “Customers from all over the world can now order their favourite items, and it gives us a great platform for launching new products.”
The brand sells drinks all over Pakistan, and has contracts with a number of the international supermarket giants, including Carrefour, Metro, Hyperstar, as well as thousands of local retailers around the world who stock their world-famous juice.
Part of the company’s Vision 2020 expansion and export plan is to target new countries where they don’t currently have a foot-hold.
It has taken less than 20 years for the family business - that was started with one warehouse to supply local grocery stores – to make an impact around the world.
Regal Food Products Group was founded in 2001 the heart of Yorkshire from humble beginnings, to fill a gap in the local market, for quality Asian and halal products. Later, it added the manufacturing arm, trading as The Baking Company LLP, which remains at the forefront of innovation – always looking at new ideas and ways to improve the product range, as well as looking at ways to expand the range.
The Research and Development team continues to create new products in an ongoing programme.
The Bradford-based, multi-million-pound, global business can be found across Europe, Asia, Canada, and the USA, but they are continually looking to open new opportunities.
The product range is extensive, and now carries more than 300 items across the group, including sweet bakery items, savoury snacks, and a range of pickles and Bombay spices. A popular range of Recipe Spices were introduced last year, along with a selection of drinks.
Regal Foods has already more than proved themselves in the retail industry, and their Vision 2020 of expansion and export is already well on its way to being fulfilled – which promises a great year ahead for both the Bradford business and the community.
“In these difficult times, Regal Foods is proud to be helping to feed the nation, and we send a heartfelt thanks to all our customers for their support, and the wonderful team behind the name, for everything they are doing,” says Waqar.
