TREAT bags for hundreds of young people who have been in care are being provided as part Bradford Council's support to communities and vulnerable people during the coronavirus crisis.
The Council is linking up with the poet Lemn Sissay’s Christmas Dinner charity for the initiative, to provide the treats, including arts and crafts items and a month’s free Netflix.
Some of the children have particular needs or are vulnerable, some are in semi-independent living and some are living independently.
The treat bags include items like craft accessories, an Easter egg, a jigsaw, toiletries, sweets and Mr Kipling treats and an Amazon gift card with a free month’s Netflix subscription.
Councillor Adrian Farley, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Children and Families, said: “We want to do everything we can to support our young people at what is an especially challenging time.
"As well as the physical impact of the virus itself we have to consider the effects on mental health and get whatever good support we can to our young people.
"I’m pleased that we have been able to link up with Lemn Sissay on this initiative to supplement our support for our young care leavers in this way.
"The aim is to bring them some joy and to support their creativity during these difficult times.”
