SALTAIRE residents have been urged to take pictures of some of the historical pieces inside their homes for a potential new project.
Saltaire History Club has launched the plea online for people to send in their photos while the lockdown is in place.
The club posted on its Facebook page: “A small request while we're all spending more time than usual in our houses...
“We know surprisingly little about the original interiors of Saltaire's houses, though we do know that these formed part of Salt's vision for improving the lives of his workers. Saltaire was, for example, unusual in providing gas lighting, range cookers and individual outdoor WCs for tenants.
“Saltaire History Club are considering a research project to document this properly and would love to know more about what survives - especially photographs of features such as range cookers, potentially original fireplaces, internal windows and even the 'sneck' latches used on many front doors.”
Anyone interested in taking part are urged to send their pictures, the street name and information on items on the Saltaire History Club Facebook page.
