A CONSTRUCTION company has been granted permission to convert part of a city centre building into office space.
MMR Construction had submitted the planning application to change the use of the basement of 22 to 24 Canal Road into offices.
The rest of the building, on the junction of Canal Road and Balme Street, has been converted into 77 flats in recent years.
Plan to convert city centre building into flats can move ahead
The company said the changes could bring 20 jobs to the area.
The building dates back to the 19th Century and was a former warehouse.
It is in the Cathedral Precinct Conservation Area.
Bradford Council has approved the plans, with planning officers saying: “The straightforward change of use of the floor space and associated internal works will result in no harm to the conservation area and so are acceptable.”
Officers pointed out that the basement space would be unsuitable for residential use.
