TWO MORE Bradford medical centres have stopped taking online appointments in a bid to lessen the chances of coronavirus being spread.

Parklands Medical Practice on Buttershaw Lane and Park Road and Picton Medical Centre at Westbourne Green and at Whetley Medical Centre are among half a dozen GP practices across Bradford that have taken the measure.

Yesterday, the Telegraph & Argus revealed that walk-ins and prebookable appointments had been suspended at four medical practices due to the ongoing spread of coronavirus.

Several others have also revised their appointment policy amid the outbreak of the virus.

Among the practices affected were: Leylands Medical Centre, Wrose Health Centre, Heaton Medical Practice, Thornbury Medical Centre, Manor Medical Practice branches in Girlington and Allerton and Ashcroft Surgery.

A message on Picton's website says: "Please note due to the current Coronavirus epidemic, we have suspended all online appointment bookings."

A reader told the T&A they followed advice on the website to download an app and were able to talk to a doctor online.

The Parklands website says: "Online services have been temporarily suspended to mitigate any risk that potentially infected patients book online and attend the practice when they should be receiving advice to self-isolate or go through testing."

The medical centre advises that patients follow the current NHS advice which is below:

NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do.

Use this service if:

  • you think you might have coronavirus
  • in the last 14 days you've been to a country or area with a high risk of coronavirus – see coronavirus advice for travellers and a list of high risk countries on nhs.uk
  • you've been in close contact with someone with coronavirus

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Stay indoors and avoid close contact with other people. Call 111 if you need to speak to someone.
