CHRISTMAS footfall at the Broadway Shopping Centre in Bradford City Centre in 2019 was up by over 436,000 compared to the previous figure - new data reveals.
New cameras were installed at locations across Bradford centre to capture footfall levels in November, and a new report by Bradford Council has disclosed the first set of figures.
In the six weeks from their installation to the end of December, the six cameras recorded footfall of close to five million.
With the cameras only just having been installed - there are no figures from previous years to compare this to.
New cameras to count Bradford shoppers
However, a footfall camera was installed near Broadway 12 months before the other cameras as part of a pilot scheme.
At a meeting of Bradford Council's Regeneration and Environment Scrutiny Committee next Wednesday, members will be told that there has been an increase of 436,000 on footfall counted by the Broadway camera for the last quarter of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018.
This was an increase of 11.1 per cent.
The other footfall cameras are located at Aldermanbury (over-looking City Park/Bridge Street), Bank Street, Bridge Street, Darley Street/Kirkgate and Princes Way.
The meeting will also hear that the current occupancy level of the Broadway is 94 per cent.
A new Brazillian restaurant called Estabulo will be moving into an empty unit on Charles Street, and dessert bar Haute Dolci will occupy a unit on Broadway, next to Pizza Express.
The Committee meets in City Hall at 5.30pm next Wednesday.
