POLICE have confirmed an 81-year-old male pedestrian has died after a crash yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to Westgate, Heckmondwike, at around 3.45pm to reports of a serious road traffic collision.
There were conflicting reports over the type of vehicle that was involved.
But police also confirmed today that it was a truck in collision with the 81-year-old.
The pensioner was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) with serious head injuries.
There were reports last night that the 81-year-old had died, but police officially confirmed it this morning.
A West Yorkshire Police Force Incident Manager said: "We can confirm that the man taken to hospital has died.
"There have been no arrests and we have interviewed the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident."
Police are appealing for any witnesses of the collision to come forward, or those with dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area, at the time.
