AN elderly man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries following a collision this afternoon.
Police were called to Market Place, Heckmondwike, at around 3.45pm to reports of a serious road traffic collision.
It's understood it happened near Fultons Foods and there appears to be some conflicting reports over the type of vehicle involved.
A spokesperson said the 85-year-old man has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
The road remains closed both ways between Northgate and Leeds Road (The Swan traffic lights) at this time and is likely to affect traffic between Bradford and Dewsbury.
A large cordon is in place at the scene.
