PLANS to convert part of a pub into a car sales business have been withdrawn.

An application submitted to Bradford Council last month called for a section of the Hand and Shuttle to be turned into a car sales showroom and forecourt. The pub would be retained, but a single storey section of the building and much of the car park would be converted.

But now the application, by T Khan, has now been withdrawn.

No reason for the withdrawal has been given, but the plans had received seven objections.

And the Council's Environmental Health department had raised concerns about the scheme, saying: "Given the close proximity of housing to the proposed development, I would only support this development if safeguards are put in place to prevent disturbance either from the prolonged use of such equipment or its use at antisocial times of the day."

A similar application was approved by Bradford Council in 2012, but was never implemented and has since lapsed.
