A WOMAN'S Christmas has been ruined after more than £100 of her Morrison's More Card points were redeemed unbeknown to her.

Carol Grayson, 43, and her family had been saving up all year for a special festive bonus and managed to rack up £135 worth of points.

It is something they have done for the last few years now, says Mrs Grayson.

But, she was horrified to find all her points had disappeared when she logged into the Morrison's More Card app last weekend.

They had been redeemed over 200 miles away in Strood, Kent.

Mrs Grayson said: "I rang up on Saturday, December 14, and informed them.

"The customer service lady said she couldn't help, but that some team would be in touch.

"I then received an email from head office saying it was my fault, that I was compromised because I was probably using the same password and email on various things."

Morrison's gave a similar response to the T&A.

A spokesperson for the supermarket chain said: "Online hackers target people who use the same username and password across multiple sites.

"We regularly remind our customers about the importance of using a unique password. We take online security very seriously and our customer data has not been breached."

Ms Grayson has only ever used her Morrison's More Card at Five Lane Ends and is perplexed someone more than four hours away was able to use her points.

She said: "I've had no issue with it before, I've not had any other issues with any other accounts.

"Surely there's something in place that could flag that up straight away and put a halt to it.

"I know it's not your actual money but it's something you rely on and we specifically shop there for it.

"We spend more money doing offers and putting money into it."

The 43-year-old from Eccleshill is also reluctant to take the blame for an issue that has impacted many others before her.

She said: "Straight away, my first thought is it's their system

"It's quite disappointing they don't offer anything.

"They say it's you that has been breached, it's not us.

"Surely there should be something in there.

"There's a dedicated Facebook page to it and I don't think anybody is getting anything back.

"I find it strange that hundreds of people have reported the same thing and we have seen it all over Facebook and the net.

"It seems like Morrisons don't give a damn, but we will not be shopping there ever again and we spend over £100 a week."

On social media site, Facebook, a page has been set up to address the troubles people have been facing with their Morrison's More Card, as well as other issues relating to the supermarket.

The "Morrisons - More Reasons NOT to shop" page has more than 500 likes and follows, and it also has a subsidiary group dedicated to highlighting the issue of "missing points".

On both these pages, numerous shoppers have posted about their points vanishing.

There a number of threads on the Money Saving Expert forums as well.

Ms Grayson has been left feeling aggrieved, at a time when she should be excited about the festivities.

She said: "Every little helps for Christmas. I was relying on that.

"It's like I've got to spend £100 now.

"It's the same for other families out there."
