A PENSIONER was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after her horse was involved in a collision with a car.

The incident happened on Toulston Lane, Bramham, at around 9am on Sunday morning. 

It involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a white horse and its rider.

The rider, a woman in her sixties, received serious injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) by air ambulance.

A vet had to put the horse down, due to the serious nature of its injuries.

The pensioner is still receiving treatment in hospital.

Another woman was thrown from her horse, but received slight injuries.

The driver of the Astra was interviewed by voluntary attendance, in relation to the incident.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses of the incident.
