POLICE recovered two stolen cars last week, with one involving a car chase of more than a mile.

Officers from the Bradford East Neighbourhood Policing Team secured the vehicles on Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12.

An unmarked police car spotted a stolen white Audi on Wapping Road, during the evening of Wednesday.

This was just 20 minutes after the vehicle had been taken in a burglary from a house in Yeadon.

The occupants of the Audi were still inside and officers approached to apprehend the suspects.

But, the vehicle then made off from police.

They pursued the car and it was found locked and secure around 1.3 miles away on Sandford Road.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers went to Yeadon to see the owner, who was extremely grateful, despite obviously being shaken from the burglary."

The second vehicle to be recovered - a Hyundai - had also been stolen in a burglary.

It was taken in the early hours of Thursday morning from an address in Garforth.

Officers found the vehicle at Peach Walk, in East Bowling, with a cloned registration plate.

It was recovered for forensic examination.
