BRADFORD Council’s Chief Executive has shared her insight into the district.

It’s part of the Give Bradford 100 Club - the campaign helps the Give Bradford charitable foundation source funding, which is then handed out to local community groups and good causes.

Here, Kersten England outlines her passion for the district.

What is your favourite thing about Bradford? The warmth, generosity and creativity of its people.

What’s your ideal day out in Bradford? A walk on the tops to the 12 Apostles, then the train to Saltaire, coffee at Tambourine, check out latest exhibitions in Salts Mill – into Forster Square – (can’t go past Khaadi for latest in store offer) – lunch at Bab Tooma – afternoon show at Alhambra – Bear's Den for glass of wine and tapas – 662 bus home.

What is the best lesson you have learnt in business? Know what you stand for and what you want to achieve. Build effective alliances. Listen, listen, listen. Negotiate compromise and adapt, but never compromise on your principles.

What single thing do you think could help the city? Every child in the district leaving school confident, optimistic about their future and with all the skills to navigate adult life.

What inspired you to join the 100 Club? Bradford was built by industrialists and activists with a shared passion for common good. The 100 club in a small way reunites these people and their passions.

What community issues are important to you? Getting alongside our communities and neighbourhoods so they all feel part of and benefit from the progress of Bradford.
