CHOIRS joined together in Bradford this afternoon to send out the message that war is never a solution.

Organised by the Yorkshire Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, various choirs joined forces for the annual Songs for Peace commemoration.

They laid white poppy wreaths at the cenotaph to remember all victims of war and conflict - both civilians and soldiers on all sides.

According to pacifist campaigning organisation the Peace Pledge Union, there are three elements to the meaning of white poppies.

They represent remembrance for all victims of war, a commitment to peace and a challenge to attempts to glamourise or celebrate war.
