BRADFORD Council is reminding people to make sure they are on the Electoral Register.
Every household in the district should have received a household enquiry form over the summer.
The forms are part of an annual canvass or check to ensure the electoral register is kept up to date and that any new residents or anyone who has recently turned 18 is registered so that they have the opportunity to vote in any future elections or referenda.
Canvassers will be visiting properties where no one has responded to the form, to check their details and complete an online form with them on a tablet computer.
The council is legally required by the Government to visit homes where no one has responded.
Kersten England, Electoral Registration and Returning Officer for Bradford district, said: “With a general election potentially around the corner, you need to be on the electoral register in order to get your vote. This is also the only way you can take part in any local election or referendum.
“Being on the electoral register can also help improve your credit rating, which helps with things like applying for credit cards or loans.
"Don’t miss your chance and lose your vote."
