A MURDER investigation has been launched into the death of a woman who was found dead at her home in Hull.
57-year-old Vera Hudson, who was originally from Bradford, was pronounced dead at her home on Constable Street last Thursday morning by Humberside Police.
45 minutes after the body was discovered, police arrested Mark Jewitt, 25, at a property in Station Road, Hessle - he has since been charged with Vera's murder.
Jewitt was remanded in custody and later appeared at Hull Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
Vera has left behind five children, Rebecca, Sarah, Daniel, Kelly and Dale, who are now having to fundraise to help pay for her funeral.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Gadd, senior investigating officer in the case, said: “I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has called in with information since we launched our appeal yesterday morning.
"If you have any information, and have not yet spoken to us, please call 101 quoting log 88 of 19/09/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
